Why I Hate Christmas Presents!

I am very disenchanted with Christmas coming up. In an attempt to keep a low budget (we don't actually have a budget...just don't want to spend alot) for Christmas presents, we decided that we are going to make and decorate gingerbread ornaments. I know that I shouldn't have waited this long to start the process, but seriously this is a pain in my ass. The recipe that we are using is incredibly simple, but very frustrating. The recipe calls for 3/4 cup of applesauce and 4 ounces of cinnamon. I think this kind of project is geared toward patient people because I was frustrated after one batch. First of all, that much cinnamon gave me a headache because the scent was so damn strong, second, the dough was impossible to work with and every little gingerbread man either lost an arm, leg or head (they look more like war vets than cutesie Christmas men). Once you roll the dough and place your cutout ornaments on a cookie sheet to dry for 1-2 days you are set to decorate. The problem is that it has been 3 days and they are still not dry and they look worse every day. I think I am going to officially scrap this plan and cancel Christmas. Every other year the craft projects we have done have turned out really cute, but this year I must have over-estimated my patience and craftiness.

oh no! I say just buy some more applesauce, add the cookies back in and feed it to the teachers at work, they eat anything. Then give pictures of D out, everyone will be blinded by the cuteness and will forget that there is not an applesauce ornament to go with it!

War vet gingerbread men!!

You should have painted little peace signs on them and really tried to make a political statement. ;)

I will seriously love, and pee myself laughing, if I get an ornament that looks like it has been half eaten, missing an arm, let, or head. It's the thought that counts, right? If you hand out something like that people are for sure going to think you took a super long time on it, otherwise you would have just thrown them out. I say give them. (Maybe not to your dad, it's not always the thought that counts.)

This is totally besides the point of your post. As you may recall I've been swearing up and down about how stupid this is because I can't leave comments all the time and I get error messages. Much like with the music earlier today, I just needed to take my time and read. Obviously your supposed to verify your account or something, and I'm always clicking way too fast to see that. My aggravation should be much less now, and hopefully this will help with my commenting.

Whatever you do, do not donate those ornaments to a VFW or Vets Hospital. That shit will be like agent orange!

Oh Jenny, I feel so bad for you. If you want, why not head to your local holiday store and purchase a few of the ornaments.

It could be our secret.
