Jack Vettriano is a Scottish born painter that has become somewhat of a celebrity in England as he continues to have wildly popular exhibitions. Vettriano has had sell-out exhibitions in Edinburgh, London, Hong Kong, Johannesburg and New York.
Vettriano, a former mining engineer, works in a film noir style and somewhat sexual overtones can be found in many of his works.
He is portrayed in many of his works as the "male predator".

I have seen the picture of the people dancing hanging up lots of places. I bet most of those people have no idea about the other pictures he has painted. I have to say, I don't love it. But art is subjective and we all get to like different things.

Vettriano's style reminds me a lot of Edward Hopper -- but there's a lot of pictures here I hadn't seen before, great job!

Jenny-My favorite Vettrianos are entitlted "The Singing Butler", "Dance Me To The End of Love", "The Shape of Things To Come", and "Private Dancer" which you posted. I don't find them the least bit obscene, although some of his stuff I couldn't hang in my living room. Glad you found something new to enjoy!
